The MAD-X program has the ability to describe the aperture available to the beam and data are being added to some elements in the description of the LHC. A compact description of the aperture at any point on the circumference has been generated and can be used in various ways, in or outside the MAD-X context.
This model will be generated for all future versions of the LHC layout. At the moment only V6.4 is available.

Aperture images like this will be added systematically to the data pages in the Optics Web in due course.
You can download a Mathematica notebook which builds the compact aperture model (this forms the basis of a forthcoming LHC Project Note) and explains how to use it, including examples of how to build a custom sequence with apertures for tracking. This notebook is quite long but you may only wish to use a part of it in a given application.
