In response to requests from the LHC experiments, the HKICK, VKICK and DPY values have been added to the tables. The aperture values have also been added. Please note that, due to a limitation of the data structures in the MAD-X program, these are not shown at the ends of DRIFT spaces in the TFS files directly created by MAD.
In earlier versions, the optical functions in the interactions regions (IR1, ..., IR8) were calculated using initial conditions taken from a periodic arc cell on the left of the IR and propagating them through. While these values were initially requested because they are useful for some purposes (notably matching), a number of people expressed the wish to have the "real" optical functions which are part of the periodic solution for the whole ring. This gives more meaningful values for the horizontal and vertical dispersion functions in particular. Therefore, starting with V6.5, the periodic solutions for the whole ring will be used.
From Version 6.4 onwards, the values of optical functions are given at the right-hand ends of
elements as seen by someone standing upright inside the ring. For Beam
1, this corresponds to the exits of elements; for Beam 2, the entrances.
For earlier versions, the values are given at the centres of elements.
