The links below give access to detailed information about a variety of Selections (or Lattice Modules) from the LHC optics in various configurations (Injection, Collision, etc.).  The long straight sections are (loosely) termed "IR"s.

Optics at IPs Arc cell Whole ring (IPs and quadrupoles)
IR1 IR2 IR3 IR4
IR5 IR6 IR7 IR8

These pages provide plots of optical functions, tables of optical functions and element strengths (in a variety of formats) and complete MAD input files for each optics module.

Power Converter Currents for LHC Hardware Commissioning

A summary (Excel) file containing power converter currents in the long straight sections for typical injection and top energy configurations.   This has been prepared manually for purposes of hardware commissioning using a simple linear approximation of the magnet transfer functions.

Magnet setting currents and maximum currents will also be added to the optics configuration tables shortly.

Technical Note

Since this version of the LHC (like all versions from 6.3 onwards) was developed using MAD-X, the sample input files are in the corresponding format. There are some differences in output files too with respect to previous versions for which data files were generated with MAD-8. In particular, orbits are generally given in units of metre by MAD-X (this is the case for all those optics tables and plots that are used here).

Important Note: it may be safer to right-click on the links for MAD input files so as to download them rather than try to open them directly in your Web browser.  See the help page for further information about handling MAD files.
